My Experience at BUIDL IRL !๐งฑ๐
A 5-day journey of BUIDLing in web3
The BUIDL_IRL workshop organized by Polygon Guild Jaipur was a unique opportunity for me to dive deep into the world of blockchain development. As someone who has been following the blockchain industry for a while, I was thrilled to attend an offline event that would allow me to interact with experts in the field, learn from them, and develop my skills.
Throughout the workshop, I was able to gain valuable insights into the latest trends and techniques in blockchain development, learn from experienced professionals in the field, and connect with other developers who share my passion for this fascinating technology. In this blog, I would like to share my experience at the BUIDL_IRL workshop and highlight some of the key takeaways that I gained from this exciting and informative event.
SO LFG !!๐
What was the BUIDL_IRL (๐งฑ,๐)?
BUIDL_IRL was the first IN REAL LIFE development workshop which was conducted by Polygon Guild Jaipur. The workshop spanned over five days and was led by Megabyte Lead @Polygon Guild Jaipur, I was able to explore various aspects of blockchain development and learn with fellow enthusiasts.
Over the course of the workshop, we were exposed to a range of topics, from ERC20 and ERC721 tokens to writing smart contracts and integrating them with the front-end of the app. What made this workshop truly unique was the opportunity to work IRL alongside experts in the field, who provided guidance and support throughout the development process. Through the use of cutting-edge tools like Ethers and WalletConnect, we were able to create fully functional apps that leveraged the power of the PolygonID and Polygon zkEVM networks.
The workshops were designed to be accessible and flexible, allowing developers to attend as many or as few sessions as they wished.
What was I doing before attending BUIDL_IRL?
As a UI/UX developer, my prior experience with Web3 development was limited. Most of my experience has been on the non-technical side of web development, including designing user interfaces and improving user experiences. However, I recognized the potential of Web3 technology and its impact on the future of the internet, so I decided to take a step towards learning more about it.
Currently, I am focusing on graphic designing for Web3 applications, creating visually appealing designs that also offer a seamless user experience.
I was motivated to attend the workshop series because I wanted to expand my skill set and learn more about the exciting field of Web3 development. I was also interested in exploring the potential of blockchain technology to create decentralized applications that could provide new and innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Before attending the workshop, I expected to gain a better understanding of the underlying technologies and best practices for building dapps on the Polygon Network. I hoped to learn about new tools and technologies specific to Web3 development and to gain hands-on experience building decentralized applications was the best way possible. I believe that my background in UI/UX design, combined with my newfound knowledge of web3 technology, puts me in a unique position to create innovative and user-friendly decentralized applications that can disrupt the traditional web landscape.
What I have built during the BUIDL_IRL?
During the workshop series, we worked on 5 projects :
NFT Collection.
Staking Dapp.
Making the Staking Dapp Gassless.
Working with Polygon ID.
Working with Polygon zkEVM.
NFT Collection
On Day#1 and Day#2, we wrote a smart contract for minting an NFT and deployed it on the Polygon Network. We used this contract to mint our NFTs!
Stacking Dapp
On Day#3, we wrote smart contracts and integrated them into the frontend to create a Stacking Dapp that allowed us to stake and unstake our NFTs and earn rewards.
Making the staking Dapp Gassless.
On Day#4, we created a Gassless Dapp and learned about PolygonID, through which we can create claims and verify them. Take a look at the git repo for PolygonID Schema.
Working with zkEVM
On the last day, we learnt about zkEVM and deployed our ERC721 contract on it.
We used a variety of tools and technologies during the workshop series, including Solidity, Wagmi Library, Ethers, and WalletConnect. We also used various web3 development tools such as MetaMask and the Polygon testnet and Polygon zkEVM
The main challenges we faced were when it came to debugging our code and handling the errors! ๐ต
What do I know after attending BUIDL_IRL?
After attending the BUIDL_IRL workshop, I gained valuable experience in Web3 development and learned about various technologies and tools used in the blockchain industry. I gained practical experience with tools and technologies specific to Web3 development, such as Solidity. I learned about the fundamentals of smart contracts, how to write and deploy them with hardhat, and how to interact with them using ethers.js.
Coming from a non-tech background, this workshop helped me a lot in giving me the knowledge of tech side in the Web3 world. I have gained a valuable experience from this workshop and am excited to continue learning and contributing to the growth of the decentralized ecosystem.
SWAGS SWAGS SWAGS SWAGS SWAGS!!!
Last but not least, we received some awesome swags as a token of appreciation for attending the workshop series
Here are a few of what Polygon Guild Jaipur gave to their participants for the completion of projects!!
Hence, BUIDL_IRL comes to an end.
Overall, the BUIDL_IRL series gave me a useful and engaging introduction to Web3 development. I am appreciative of the chance to work with other developers to create creative projects while learning from knowledgeable mentors. I do not doubt that the information and abilities I have gained will help me in future projects, and I am looking forward to continuing to grow in the quickly changing Web3 industry.
Can't wait for another event by Polygon Guild Jaipur!!๐ฅ
